JohnH. Kohland, 84, died Friday, April 2, 2021 after a long period of failing health. He was the husband of Ann (Gillman) Kohland of Hudson. They Were Married for 61 years. He was born in Cobleskill, NY, the son of the late Harry and Victoria (Schaffer) Kohland and lived in Lake George, NY prior to moving to Hudson three years ago. Mr. Kohlandwas a veteran of both the United States Army,serving during the Korean War, and the United States Navy Reserves. He served as a New York State Trooper for 20 years,retiring in 1980. After his retirement he went to work driving buses for Trailways. He was an avid coin collector and enjoyed traveling with his family in their motorhome.


Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter Kathleen Park and her husband Charles“Larry” of Marlborough, a granddaughter Lindsay Park and her husband Eric Mammoser of Marlborough, two brothers: Fred Kohland of OH and Craig Kohland ofCA, one sister Beverly Elwell of Oneonta NY, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Richard Kohland.


Private family burial service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for a donation to be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.

John Kohland died in Hudson, MA and was last known to have served in Troop F, serving in NYSP 8/11/1960 - 8/18/1980
