Fort Johnson – Leland E. Jarosz, 81, of Opalka Road in Fort Johnson, NY died Sunday, November 13, 2022 at the Edward L. Wilkinson Residential Healthcare Facility in Amsterdam,NY. He was born on December 24, 1941 in Amsterdam, New York and was the son of Edward and Jessie Slezak Jarosz. Leland was a graduate of the Wilbur H. Lynch High School in Amsterdam, NY. He later attended Rider University in Trenton, New Jersey. Leon attended the New York State Trooper Academy and was stationed in the Fultonville, New York Barracks. After his retirement he worked for Niagara Mohawk (National Grid) as a collection representative. He was also a member of the New York National Guard. Leland was a communicant of St. Stanislaus Church. He enjoyed downhill skiing; collecting antiques and taking care of his property. He is survived by his sister; nieces; nephews and cousins. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Amsterdam Funeral Chapel, 13 Belmont Place, Amsterdam, New York. There will be no services.
