Final Patrol: Trooper Nelson Burke (Retired)

Retired Trooper Nelson Burke passed away on 9/19 at the age of 70. At the time of his retirement on 11/30/94, Trooper Burke was the MIC of the Roscoe Satellite Office.


Nelson Burke passed away peacefully at his home during a sudden and brief battle with cancer. Nelson was raised in a small town of Upstate New York, and honorably served as a Trooper with the NY State Police. Following retirement, he and his family relocated to their much-enjoyed Sanford (NC) home. Nelson appreciated helping the less capable and elderly, spent many years serving as a funeral associate at the Miller-Boles Funeral Home, and was an active member of the Buffalo Presbyterian Church. His brightly shining, kind-hearted and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to have known him.Nelson leaves his legacy to his beloved and devoted wife Kathleen; son Jeff Burke and daughter-in-law Tammy Burke; daughter Jennifer Burke and grandson, Devon, sister Janet and husband Dennis Bielecki, sister Kathy Russ and husband Bob Russ, and sister Lori DeRosia; his in-laws Robert and Jeanne Jolly, Mark Jolly and Karen Polk, Jeff and Jenny Jolly, and Mike and Diane Jolly, plus many nieces and nephews and all his friends made throughout the wonderful journey of his life.A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider a contribution to Buffalo Presbyterian Church or your favorite charity.Services have been entrusted to Miller-Boles Funeral Home of Sanford.
