January 14, 1936 - December 7, 2021

Wayne N. Twining, 85, of Peru, N.Y., passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2021. He was born in Plattsburgh on Jan. 14, 1936, the son of Beulah Luck and Noble Twining. Wayne graduated from Mount Assumption Institute in 1953 and attended Plattsburgh State. He served in the United States Marine Corps and was a Korean War veteran. He was a New York State Trooper from 1959 until he retired in 1972. He started his own business, Garden Island Marine, on the Lake Shore and served as Peru Town Justice of the Peace and was Commodore of the Valcour Sailing Club, a true Jack- of- All Trades. He was self-taught on building and carpentry making furniture, boats, docks, and was even commissioned to design and craft the Mayor's Cup Challenge Trophy. He loved the Adirondacks where he enjoyed sailing, camping, fishing, tinkering in his workshop.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy of 57 years, four daughters, Karen (Frank) Cumbo, Kathy (Farren) Mion, Katie (Nadim) Mitchell, Kristie (Jim Hartnett) Twining; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Wayne had compassion, strong Christian faith, sense of humor, wit, and creative story telling making him an amazing father, friend and husband.

Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 10, 2021, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home, Plattsburgh, N.Y. A Mass of Christian burial will be Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church with burial following at the parish cemetery.

Memorial donations can be made to the St. Augustine's Parish Church in Peru. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brown Funeral Home, 29 Broad St. in Plattsburgh, 518-561-3980.
