NYSTPBA Newsletter News from the NYSTPBA Board of Directors NYSTPBA Headquarters Over a two-day period this week, the Special Investigations Unit of the New York State Police executed a search warrant at NYSTPBA headquarters. This was part of an ongoing investigation, and the NYSTPBA has been fully cooperating with the investigators for the last several months. The current leadership team of the NYSTPBA is fully committed to the integrity of the organization and we welcome the SIU’s assistance in uncovering past wrongdoing by individuals who are no longer part of the NYSTPBA leadership. The NYSTPBA offices remain open, business continues to be conducted and the NYSTPBA continues to serve the membership. State of the State Address This week, Gov. Kathy Hochul delivered her State of the State address. She stated that she wants to increase community stabilization teams to reduce gun violence and increase the ranks of the State Police to help combat crime. While the Governor didn’t provide specific manpower numbers in her speech, Division has indicated to us that she has pledged to run double Academy classes. This additional manpower will be a welcome relief as the State Police is vastly undermanned due to the continued increase in responsibilities placed upon Troopers, as well as yearly retirements. The NYSTPBA will continue to advocate for additional manpower and other safety priorities as the state Legislature begins its annual budget talks in the coming months.
