MAY 2021 NEWSLETTER


The Regular Monthly Meeting of the Niagara Frontier Chapter of the Former New York State Troopers was held on Wednesday May 5, 2021 at Magruders Restaurant located at 4995 Broadway Avenue in Depew.


Meeting was called to order by President Terry Sutton at 8:00 PM. Followed was the Pledge of Allegiance to Our Flag. Then a Moment of Silence for Our Sick and Departed Members. Plus Blessings to Those Brave Men and Women in Our Armed Forces Serving Our Country and Those on the Front Lines Fighting the Covid Pandemic.


President:


President Terry Sutton gave a report on the State Board Meeting from April 24, 2021 in Syracuse. Attendees at the state meeting were President Terry Sutton, Vice President John Loncher, and Secretary Kathleen Pawlak.


State dues of $848 were paid for 106 chapter members.


Pat Gleason as Capital District representative proposed and motioned an Amendment to the By Laws that the positioin of PBA representative be made a voting member of the State Board. As required to make a change the motion was tabled until the June 19th meeting at which time it will be further discussed and then voted upon.


Bill Murray will be vacating the position of State Secretary. A replacement is being sought. Please contact Bill if you are interested.


In an effort to cut costs The Grey Rider Publication is now issued through email. Anyone not wanting a printed issue mailed to their residence please notify Terry to be removed from the list.


A motion was made by Zeke Hamilton to accept the minutes of the April Meeting as sent out via email and seconded by Bill Gourlay.



Vice President:


Vice President John Loncher welcomed everyone to the meeting.



Treasurer:


Treasurer Lloyd Schwab read the financial statement for May 2021.


A motion to accept the report as given was made by Joe Migliore and seconded by Frank Panek.

50/50 was won by Tom Stoffer


The Eagles Golf Tournament will be held on July 17, 2021


A motion was made to sponsor a golf hole for $75 by Joe Casciano and seconded by Andy Flynn


A motion to purchase 2 $100 tickets for the Moonbrook Golf Tournament was made by Bill Gethoefer and seconded by Ken Chodkowski.


The Annual Chicken Barbecue is scheduled for July 7, 2021 at Fontanas Groove. Tickets are available at tonight's meeting or through the mail. Flyers were sent out to all members via email or USPS.


The SW Florida Former Troopers Luncheons meetings are over until the fall. Sad news to report that the owner of the new luncheon location was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident on May 2, 2021


The 2021 Membership Roster List will be comprised of those who renewed membership by 05/31/2021. If you are interested in receiving the new list then Please email Terry .

Helping Hands:


Jack Meegan reports on the Frank A Farrell Jr Charity Classic Golf Tournament:


To be held at Moonbrook Country Club in Jamestown, NY on May 14, 2021.


Due to Covid 19 restrictions non golfers will not be allowed to attend.


The raffle to benefit charities will be held – The Former Troopers Helping Hands will share in the proceeds.

Good and Welfare:


Thinking of You cards were sent to Jim McDermott for his 96th birthday and Jim Farrell for his 90th birthday.


Cards were signed at the meeting and sent to Lee Attaway and Bob Bruso. Please keep them in your prayers for a full recovery.


Lee had suffered a TIA in November and then suffered a minor stroke in April. His left side was affected. He has physical therapy for his arm strength and speech therapy for his facial droop.
