TRI-STATES CHAPTER NEWSLETTER, December 2021

There are no regular chapter meetings in December and January. The Chapter Christmas dinner was held on Sunday December 5th at the American Legion Hall in Middletown, NY. For the first time the dinner was held in the afternoon instead of the evening. Feedback from the attendees was positive regarding the change. Also, the dinner was a buffet style provided by Country Courtesy Caterers. The 45 members and guests enjoyed numerous door prizes and a 50/50 drawing that was won by Ron Heppes. Special thanks to Terri and Mike Escobar who organized the event.

Current Chapter membership is 210, 63 live out of state, with Florida being the most popular with 27 (not counting snowbirds). 2021 was an especially sad year for the Chapter with the passing of 15 members.

Our outgoing Chapter President, Dick Thorpe was unable to attend due to complications from a shoulder injury he sustained in October when he fell off a ladder. We wish him well with his recovery. He was recognized for his many years of service as our Chapter President.

The incoming Chapter President, retired Trooper Bob Caridi, and incoming Vice-President, retired Senior Investigator John Ricichi were also recognized and congratulated on their recent election. Bob noted that in connection with Wreaths Across America, wreaths would be placed on veteran’s graves in the Orange County Cemetery in Goshen on Saturday, December 18th.

Chapter member, current Orange County Undersheriff Ken Jones advised that he will be running for Sheriff to succeed Sheriff Carl DuBois who is retiring. We wish him well.

It was noted that our long-time meeting venue, My Place in New Windsor is no longer available. The new officer staff will be conducting a search for a new location.

Our next regular meeting will be on Wednesday February 12, 2020.
