Tri-States Chapter Newsletter - February 2022

TRI-STATES NEWSLETTER, February 2022 Our Chapter met on February 9th at a new venue, “Delancey’s” in Goshen, NY with the following attending: Sitler, Richichi, Caridi, Bill Nuzzo, Tom Dunn, Bill Murphy, Escobar, Duffy, Bob Murphy, Heppes, Hudson, Hansen, Irish, McDowell, Ventura, Clark, Casey, Bob Nuzzo, Garrison, Wierzbicki, Salomon (21 members).


The meeting opened with The Pledge of Allegiance and opening prayer.

Final Patrol: Noted was the passing of retired Trooper Leo Gasparik (Troop L), age 77 on 1/23; retired Inv. Anthony (Zac) Zaccari, age 94 on 1/29; retired Z/Sgt. Rich D’Agostino, (Troop L) from Covid on 1/29. Rest In Peace all.

Sick Leave: This past Thursday Dick Thorpe, while recuperating from his shoulder injury, fell on some ice and broke his arm (humerous). Chapter member Charlie Foster also fell on some ice cracking his ribs. We wish them well in their recovery. It was noted that retired T/Lt. Rod Covington (Troop NYC) is being treated for Cancer related to his WTC/911 duties. His contact number is (516) 983-9680.

The Chapter treasurers report was approved.

The Chapter welcomed two new members who were sworn in: Retired BCI Captain James McDowell who retired from VFW/F in 2013, and retired Sr/Inv. Yan Salomon who retired from Troop F in 2021. Welcome aboard to both.

A motion was made and carried to donate $100 to The Mid-Hudson St. Patrick’s Parade in Goshen, NY in March.

A Thank You letter was received from the NYSTPBA and the Signal 30 Fund for the Chapter’s donation to benefit the family of Tpr. Christopher Baldner who had been incarcerated in the Ulster County Jail, having been denied bail after being indicted for Murder by the NYS AG following a fatal pursuit.

Chapter President Bob Caridi advised that he has been in contact with Troop F F/Sgt. Jim Whittel with planning for a father/son-daughter attendance at our April meeting to recognize chapter members who have an active son or daughter in law enforcement. Also discussed was conducting a meeting in the zone 3 (New Paltz) and zone 1 (Wurtsboro) areas later this year.

The 50/50 was won by Bob Murphy. The attendance award was won by Marty Hansen.

The next regular meeting is Wednesday March 9, 2022.
