Tri-States Chapter Newsletter - May 2021
Our Chapter met on May 12th at “My Place” in New Windsor, NY with the following attending: Sitler, Escobar, Donohue, Clark, Heppes, Bob Murphy, Tom Dunn, Hughes, Wentink, Gunn, Richichi, Vance, Krajewski, Olson, Pierce Gallagher, Hudson, Lane, Garrison, Bill Nuzzo, Ventura, Barbaria, DiBattista, Sweetman, Gillespie, Irish, Hayes, Moscato, Dechon, Candela, Thorpe, Hopper. (31 members)
The meeting opened with The Pledge of Allegiance and opening prayer. Thanks to Linda Gunn for providing pies and brownies for dessert.
Final Patrol: Noted was the passing of retired Sgt. (Division Pilot) John Cuneo Sr., age 82 on 4/28; Nicholas P. Wolfburg (son of Chapter member Philip Wolfburg), age 43 0n 3/25. Rest In Peace.
Sick Leave: Chapter VP, retired Inv. Don Plunkett is currently in Castle Point VA Hospital suffering from internal bleeding following a surgical procedure. We are hopeful for a speedy recovery.
It was good to see Chapter member Pete Donohue at the meeting following his recent oral surgery.
The Chapter treasurers report was approved.
There were 13 applicants for the Jack Stein Memorial Scholarship. The winner whose name was drawn from a hat was Hope Wentink from Maybrook, NY. Hope is the granddaughter of Chapter member John Wentink and the late Bill Treco. Hope will be graduating from Valley Central High School and plans to continue her education at Orange County Community College. A check for $1,000 will be presented to her at the June meeting. Congratulations Hope.
A thank you note was received from the widow of former Chapter Secretary Ed Van Kluyve for the NYSP patch wreath given to her in his memory.
The Troop F Memorial Day service will be held at Troop F Headquarters on Friday May 28th at 11AM. There will be refreshments served at 10AM, with a luncheon in the Headquarters garage immediately following the service.
The 50/50 was won by Ron Heppes. The attendance award was won by Pete Donohue.
The next regular meeting is Wednesday June 9th, at “My Place”.
