Our Chapter met on November 10th at “My Place” in New Windsor with the following attending: Sitler, Richichi, Tom Dunn, Caridi, Ross, Hansen, Duryea, Geoghan, Vernooy, Bill Murphy, Hudson, Wentink, Escobar, Hughes, Sweetman, Garrison, Irish, Ventura. (18 members).
The meeting opened with The Pledge of Allegiance and opening prayer.
Final Patrol: Noted was the passing of retired Sr. Inv. Henry G. Youngblood, age 85 on 10/17; retired Inv. Peter Karic (Troop K evidence custodian) age 76 on 10/20; Sallyann Gallagher, wife of retired Staff Sgt. Kevin Gallagher, age 77 on 10/19; retired BCI Capt. Gerald E. Looney (Troop G), age 85 on 10/27; retired Sgt. Regina Robbins (Troop D – one of the first group of females in the NYSP) age 70; retired Sgt/SC Paul Sucher (Troop E), age 77 on 10/30. Rest In Peace all.
Sick Leave: Retired Sgt/SC John Wiegert was in the hospital in Ft. Meyers Florida earlier this month with heart issues. He is recuperating at home.
Chapter President Dick Thorpe was readmitted to the hospital in Newburgh with continuing complications involving his shoulder injury.
The Chapter treasurers report was approved.
The Chapter voted to approve the application of new member, Captain Michael F. Cahill, Jr. who retired from Troop F, Zone 3 on 12/31/09.
The Chapter swore in new member, Major Marty Hansen, who retired from Division HQ on 3/26/14. Welcome aboard to both.
The annual Christmas Dinner is tentatively scheduled for Sunday December 5, 2021 at the American Legion Hall on Wawayanda Ave. in Middletown NY from 2PM-6PM. Details to be sent out separately.
A motion was made and carried to donate $500 to Wreaths Across America to place wreaths at the Veteran’s cemetery in Orange County.
A motion was made and carried to donate $500 to the NYSTPBA Signal 30 Benefit fund to cover expenses for the family of Tpr. Christopher Baldner, currently incarcerated in the Ulster County Jail, having been denied bail after being indicted for Murder by the NYS AG following a fatal pursuit.
The Chapter has been advised that My Place, our long-time meeting venue will no longer be available for meetings in 2022. The matter was discussed with the membership, and the newly elected Chapter officers will be reviewing options for meeting venues beginning in February 2022.
The 50/50 was won by John Richichi. The attendance award was won by Shawn Garrison.
The next regular meeting is Wednesday February 9, 2022.
