World Trade Center Health Program Reviewing Expanded Cancer Screening Coverage

In an August 10, 2026 letter to Congressman Michael Lawler and 29 other members of Congress, the World Trade Center Health Program announced that it is reviewing its cancer-screening policy. The review will consider whether coverage should be based on a broader range of medical guidance and federal healthcare standards, including Medicare coverage.

The Program currently provides periodic screenings for breast, cervical, colorectal, and lung cancers. The review may lead to expanded coverage, including prostate cancer screenings such as PSA blood tests and examinations for high-risk individuals. No policy changes have been announced yet. Any changes will be posted on the WTC Health Program website and communicated directly to members and healthcare providers.
